It begins with a look at the city’s fascinating history and myriad cultural influences, before an introduction to Lima’s best culinary neighborhoods and the restaurants of Miraflores.
On day two, the treats keep coming with market visits, tasting tours and restaurant stops, chef’s demos and plenty more besides—all you need to get to grips with the wonders of world-class Peruvian cooking!
Upon landing in Lima you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in, ready for an immersive day in the capital.
Lunch comes first, followed by a fascinating tour of the Larco Museum where a bewildering array of artefacts, jewelry, masks and ceramics are housed—some dating back over 3,000 years. The building, an 18th-century mansion, sits on the ruins of an ancient pyramid, which only adds to the Larco Museum’s magic! Later, enjoy a further exploration of Lima with a guided panoramic tour, taking in both its colonial past and contemporary present; Plaza de Armas and the Historical Center, Huaca Pucllana Ruins, the Cathedral and Government’s Palace are particular Lima highlights to look for.
Your day finishes in the upmarket districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, both known for their excellent restaurants.
Lima is known as the World’s Greatest Gastronomic City, and you’ll get a taste of just why during this mouthwatering foodie tour of Barranco, a much-loved bohemian district that happens to be a hub of street food and first-class restaurants too.
Setting off in the company of your local guide, a produce market full of tropical fruits, spices and vegetables is the best place to start, followed by a fun-filled culinary class courtesy of an expert chef. You’ll certainly pick up some expert tips to take home here; take special note of how to prepare the perfect ceviche, a modern Peruvian classic.
From your cooking demo the rest of Barranco then awaits, with the day being spent tasting Peruvian delicacies, coffee and pisco sours at multiple restaurants and food stands—as well as visiting Barranco’s many cultural highlights to work it all off as you go; Bon Appetit!
As your foodie tour of Lima draws to an end, a private vehicle will be on-hand to take you to the airport, ready for your onward flight home.
