Upon landing in Lima you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in, ready for an immersive day in the capital.
Your guided tour begins at the city’s colonial past and contemporary present; Plaza de Armas and the Historical Center, panoramic visit of Huaca Pucllana Ruins, the Cathedral and Government’s Palace are particular Lima highlights to look out for.
Your day finishes in the upmarket districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, both known for their excellent restaurants.
Lima is known as the World’s Greatest Gastronomic City, and you’ll get a taste of just why during this mouthwatering foodie tour of Barranco, a much-loved bohemian district that happens to be a hub of typical and first-class restaurants too.
Our tour begins on foot, visiting Hotel B, Dedalo Gallery, we walk down to the “Malecon” of Barranco, Bridge of Sighs, tour of the famous murals and the main square of Barranco. Then, visit a famous local restaurant to have a typical peruvian breakfast: bread with pork crackling or “butifarra”. After that, visit MATE (Mario Testino) Museum and Jade Rivera Museum. Finally, you will taste the best peruvian dishes at a typical restaurant.

On day 3, a private vehicle will take you to Lima Airport for your flight to Cusco where you’ll be met, and driven to Tambo del Inka, a beautifully Sacred Valley Hotel that also enjoys a spectacular riverside setting. This is an ideal place to acclimatize yourself for Machu Picchu.
Your Wildlife and History Tour of Peru now delves deep into Inca antiquity with visits to some of the Sacred Valley’s greatest sites.
After breakfast at the Hotel, begin with a look at traditional life in Chinchero village, where a weaving demo will take place. Next, the agricultural terraces of Moray, one of the most impressive ancient sites in Peru. Moray’s stepped platforms are in fact an Inca food laboratory, where each terrace replicated different weather conditions throughout the empire. That way, Inca scientists could learn what grew best during the year, to maximize their crop yields!
Enjoy lunch at a local Sacred Valley restaurant, followed by another ancient marvel—the Maras Salt Mines. These spectacular hillside salt pools have not changed since Inca times, and are still used to this day. Finally, the huge monuments, fortress and terraces of Ollantaytambo are the perfect end to a wonderful day of exploration.
Machu Picchu is considered the world’s best travel destination, an wonder of the world and highlight of South America in one. Day 5 is a special day then, as you take a guided tour of this, the great ‘Lost City’ of the Inca.
You’ll begin in style with a private train boarding at Tambo del Inka’s own platform (Sacred Valley train that includes meals onboard), followed by a scenic journey through the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, and onwards to Machu Picchu. Then, simply absorb the magic of Peru’s most iconic ancient site with a fascinating guided tour, before enjoying it all at your own pace with some priceless leisure time.
Machu Picchu conjures images of gold-clad Inca kings, explorers and myth, aided no end by its unmistakable mountaintop setting. Having fully admired the citadel during the day, your next stop is Cusco.

Cusco is home to some of Peru’s greatest archeological sites, most fascinating history and atmospheric streets—all of which you will experience during a VIP walking tour today. Among the many highlights of Cusco, San Pedro Market and its stalls of crafts and wares is a great place to start, followed by a walk through some of the city’s ancient streets and plazas to the Cathedral, Iglesia De Santo Domingo and the Qorikancha Temple.
The last of these is a spectacular Inca building that was once clad entirely in gold, though the colonial architecture throughout the city is just as impressive. Your discovery of Cusco also takes you to Palacio del Inka and the Mansion of Cuatro Bustos, a marvelous 500-year-old building full of priceless original artworks.
Another exciting change of pace comes on day 7 of your Wildlife and History Tour of Peru, as the ancient ruins and fascinating history of Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley make way for the natural wonders of the Amazon Rainforest.
Fly from Cusco to Iquitos and enjoy a private transfer to the dock at Nauta, where representatives of the Delfin cruise will give you a VIP reception. You’ll embark the vessel and begin an orientation onboard as the cruise glides down the Marañon River, sailing to Pahuachiro, where your naturalist guide will point out all manner of birds, native wildlife and monkeys around you. Tonight, prepare for a delicious dinner onboard and a beautiful Amazonian sunset.
Early in the morning, you’ll have the chance to see amazing Amazon wildlife at its most active. Board a skiff and explore the pristine environment of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, keeping an eye out for creatures like the hoatzin or three-toed sloth.
In the afternoon you can set foot in the Amazon Natural Park for a guided walk through the forest, learning about the medicinal plants that are abundant here. In fact, it is believed that the Peruvian Amazon is the largest pharmaceutical reserve in the world!
Come evening you could have the chance to meet a local shaman and healer in the village of Yachay. Carola is a spiritual guide and many venture here to meet her and experience her shamanic spells.
On day 9 of your immersive Peruvian adventure you’ll cruise along the creeks and lagoons of Yanayaquillo in the morning, soaking up the enchanting atmosphere of this most unspoilt location. Listen to your guide as they show you the wonders of the waters, and see river dolphins in their favorite feeding spot. You can also have a go at piranha fishing if brave enough!
Later, try kayaking down the Piraña Caño creek, making your way to a beautiful lagoon where birds and monkeys thrive. If you prefer, you can simply soak up your surroundings on a skiff ride instead, before enough blissful evening onboard the Delfin.
As your Wildlife and History Tour of Peru draws to a close, disembark the Delfin this morning and journey onwards to Iquitos Airport via private land transfer. Along the way you’ll make a stop at the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA), an important conservation initiative that seeks to protect species and reintroduce them to their natural habitat. You can see these young manatees while learning about them and how they have become an endangered species.
Then, finally, you’ll be helped with airport check, ready for your onward flight to Lima.
